Zachary Myers

Zachary works primarily with ceramic and mixed media sculptures, culminating in a collection of art objects that are cheeky, loud, and often fabulously tasteless. His works are intuitive and frank, utilizing representations of symbolic objects to push loud and overt narratives that reflect the different elements of my personal identity.

His work is process-based, utilizing contemporary mold-making processes as well as traditional ceramic hand-building techniques. He likes to look at art-making as a space for constant experimentation with materials and making methods. The best art moments are not dreamed up in meditation, they happen in the process of doing.

He is interested in the action of taking something ordinary, breaking it apart to make it into something new, and then dropping it on the ground to see what happens next.

Slipcasting & Mold Making

  • Don’t miss his seasonal slipcasting workshop series “Cornucopia”. In these workshop sessions he delivers a specially curated and thematic collection of plaster slipcasting molds to the studio for participants to create casts from. The collection includes nostalgic vintage molds as well as one of a kind molds from Zachary’s practice.

  • Zachary offers mold making services to artists. He specializes in multi-part plaster slipcasting molds for small batch production. He also takes commissions for flexible mold solutions for resin, wax, and cement casting.

If you are interested in commissioning Zachary to produce a custom mold, send him a direct message on Instagram through the link above.

Slab Building & Hand Building

  • Zachary offers ceramic slab building and hand building workshops regularly at clayARTstudio814. His workshops are scaffolded to accommodate the integration of new ceramic artists. His workshops are generally project based and take place in weekly formats.

If you are interested in a private small group workshop, Zachary can host between 4 and 8 people for single session slab building workshops by appointment. He can be reached via direct message on Instagram if you would like more information and pricing for small group workshops.

If you would like more information on publicly available workshops, it can be found on our Workshops page.

  • Zachary brings a multi-disciplinary approach to his art making. He specializes in slab building and solid construction, but many of his projects utilize multiple making methods. He thrives while building in community so his practice is centered around the workshops he is currently offering or preparing for.

His private art practice is not focused on saleable objects, but rather representations of deeply personal narratives and experiences in his life. As such many of his hand-built artworks are not listed for sale.

If you are interested in acquiring one of his hand-built artworks, reach out via direct message on Instagram for more information.

Mixed Media and Installation Art

  • While Zachary specialized in ceramic art, many of his sculptural projects include mixed media elements. Zachary will commonly sew and create armatures to combine contrasting textures in his sculpture.

  • Many of the highlights of Zachary’s practice include collaboration with many artists to install artworks. He has installed artworks in Collaboration with galleries throughout Northern California, managing transportation, security systems, and on site processes. He has also been instrumental in the conceptualization and materialization of large format mixed media installations, notably with his business partner Marsha Godoy Schindler.
