Whimsical Wall Mounted Figures- Daytime Workshop

$375.00

There is a magical quality to ceramic artworks that freely hang on the wall. Defying gravity adds a whimsical tension to the delicate nature of ceramic sculpture. In this daytime workshop we will investigate figure sculpture through whimsical wall-mounted portraits.

These more intensive workshop sessions will be scaffolded to model a specific process of solid building without interior armatures. We will work together through the process of designing a figurative wall composition, creating basic forms and defining proportions, hollowing and engineering for wall mounting, and then glazing.

This workshop includes participation in 8 studio sessions. After the workshop, there is an additional gathering where the finished artworks are unveiled and participants can share about their inspirations and experiences. Some participant artworks will be invited to be shown in a brief exhibition at clayARTstudio814 following the end of the workshop series.

Necessary materials and tools will be available for participants to use throughout the workshop. You don’t need to bring anything with you to participate, but you are welcome to bring an apron,  water bottle, and sketch-book. It is recommended to not wear any hand jewelry such as expensive rings, watches, press-on nails. We will be playing with finely filtered premium mud and that will make our hands very dirty.

Instructor: Zachary Myers

Class Maximum: 8 participants
Number of Sessions: 6 clay buildings sessions, 2 glazing sessions, and an artwork pickup gathering.
