Cornucopia: Introduction to Slip-Casting- Weekend Workshop

$250.00

This weekend workshop includes participation in 4 studio sessions where attendees will learn to use porcelain slipcasting techniques to create unique still-life arrangements.

Using home brewed porcelain slip and a specially curated collection of plaster slipcasting molds we will create a series of one of a kind still-life sculptures. The slipcasting molds will include many forest creatures, spiritual figures, and contemporary found objects. We will then combine elements of the sculptures to create unique new mystical objects and composed scenes.

The practice of using porcelain slip to create ceramic artworks dates back many hundreds of years. Functionally, slip casting is a great way to create artworks in series while achieving a high level of detail. We will cover the slip casting process from beginning to end culminating in a community created cornucopia still-life that will be truly one of a kind!

Necessary materials and tools will be available for participants to use throughout the workshop.
