Introduction to Hand Built Pottery -Evening Workshop

$325.00

During this January workshop, participants will explore a series of hand-building processes used to create functional pottery. We will utilize a diverse collection of patterns and templates to create functional vessels. We will also investigate some traditional building techniques such as coil building and pinch pot construction. The first clay building week is all about building specific skills. The second clay building week will be more open for participants to create the pottery they have envisioned during the first week. We will then spend two sessions glazing the artworks with commercial glazes that are food safe, durable, and long lasting.

This workshop includes participation in 6 studio sessions where attendees will build, customize, and glaze their artworks. After the workshop, there is an additional gathering where the finished artworks are unveiled and participants can share about their inspirations and experiences.

Necessary materials and tools will be available for participants to use throughout the workshop. You don’t need to bring anything with you to participate, but you are welcome to bring an apron and water bottle. It is recommended to not wear any hand jewelry such as expensive rings, watches, press-on nails. We will be playing with finely filtered premium mud and that will make our hands very dirty.

Instructor: Zachary Myers

Class Maximum: 8 participants
