Ceramic Wheel Throwing Classes with art instructor Chuck Owens
Wheel Throwing Classes
In these classes you will explore ceramics on the potters wheel! You will focus on the process of centering, pulling and creating vessels as well as trimming your ware.
6 sessions, a small group setting for 2 ½ hours each session working on the potters wheel plus a group critique.
Each class has a maximum of 4 students so they feel like private classes! We supply the tools and clay along with hands on instruction. Firing and glazes are included up to 25 lbs.
No experience necessary! If you are familiar with the wheel, you will increase your expertise in these private classes.
Class cost is $275
Sign up for a specific section, classes have 4 students max and fill up quickly!
Email Marsha Schindler at email@example.com with the specific class section you would like to enroll in. I will confirm there is space and then you can make your payment to reserve your spot. Only after you have paid will your spot be confirmed. You may use the Add to Cart button.
Chuck Owens is currently an adjunct professor, ceramics, Art Department at Cal State University, Sacramento and also teaches wheel throwing at Alpha Ceramic Arts.

New classes beginning at clayARTstudio814 March 28th
Our next set of classes will be starting Wednesday March 28th. I will open a morning section and an evening section and we will meet once a week for 6 weeks and then have a critique.
This time I am interested in having you explore an ancient ceramic art form/technique, for example Mesoamerican ceramics or Aboriginal ceramics, African or Egyptian ceramics and then incorporate and reinterpret that art form, either through technique, content or form to create a new piece of your choice. I will help guide you through this process, demo basic hand-building techniques and glazing techniques and discuss the figure, vessel, or other forms that may apply.
All materials are included as well as firing.
No experience necessary. If you are new to clay we will simplify the process with you.
Cost is $220 for 6 three hour sessions plus a critique to review the finished work.
Ancient Art Forms: Two sections beginning March 28th
Section 1. Wednesday morning March 28th - May 2nd 10am – 1:00pm
Section 2. Wednesday evening March 28th - May 2nd 6pm – 9:00pm
Group Critique will be second week of May (date/time to be determined)
To secure enrollment send me an email, and be specific about what section you would like to attend. (for example, section 2, Wed. 6-9pm). I will send you an email to confirm there is a space for that section. Payment is made the first day of class.
Thank you, and as always, I look forward to making with you!
